Description: In February 1963, Castleford RLFC drew Leeds at home in the Challenge Cup, but a severe frost threatened postponement of the fixture. In order to get the pitch playable, 130 braziers were installed on the pitch. Roger Scott has supplied these press cuttings which record the event. The Leeds United Manager, Don Revie, even visited the Castleford ground to view the proceedings. Although the match was played, the pitch was seriously damaged by the braziers and took a long time to recover. Castleford lost the game 8-10.
